Songs of Autumn Leaves
Linda M. Crate
learned you can't save
anyone but yourself,
even if i give very good
advice people don't always
listen;
which hurts as i am a good
listener and never invalidate
their words but they don't
always take such care with mine—
don't know how i am
supposed to feel
as i lay suspended in this limbo
wondering if anyone could
ever love the way i love or if i will
always be too intense, too weird,
too me for everyone else to
comprehend?
i wish someone could understand
the mythology of my bones,
wish that it wasn't only winter
that buried herself in my bones;
for this loneliness is too much for
me to endure—
i long for the songs of autumn leaves.
